Definition of Bar Chart

A bar chart is a technical tool used to study data for quick analysis and decisions. Bar charts are used to show the relationship between the data on the x-axis and y-axis. In a bar chart, data is represented in vertical or horizontal bars where the length of the bar shows the quantity of the data.

Data in a bar chart is either shown in single bars or multiple bars (comparison between different values).

Example of Bar Chart:

For a financial analyst, a bar chart is prepared with the values of earning per share on the x-axis and the financial years on the y-axis. This helps a financial analyst to understand the financial position of the company.
