Definition of Community Property



The property which came other than inheritance or any gift is known as community property. This type of property came into existence in marriages. All the property of assets which has been given in marriage by the spouses is a marital community as many states do not recognize community property.

 


Community property belongs to both the partners of marriage. Community property law is the law where the assets which were later acquired by the partners in the marriage, deals with the distribution of their property if the spouses get divorced for any reason. It is also said as a community of property.
