Definition of Job Enrichment

Just like job enlargement, job enrichment is a common technique used by organizations to make their work satisfactory. Job enrichment adds on extra responsibilities just like job enlargement but in a vertical direction. The extra tasks of the higher manager or supervisor are assigned to the employee. Through this, they have more vertical tasks authority and they are more personally accountable for the work they had done.

By doing so, the employee feels more self-worthy as his skills were upgraded and developed in his new role. On the other hand, job enlargement just adds new responsibilities in the current work level.
