Definition of Selective Breeding



Selective breeding is a phenomenon in which such organisms are allowed to breed together which have some particular characteristics. In this way, the resulting generation would have desirable characteristics present in them.

 


The human beings have selectively bred the plants for about years in order to achieve better yields of crop plants and for the specific shapes and colors of flowers. New varieties of fruits and vegetables are also developed due to selective breeding. Moreover, the farm animals have also been bred together for the better and good quality and quantity of meat and milk.
