Definition of Social Entrepreneur



Social entrepreneur, as its name suggests are people who take initiatives for the bigger cause but not for profits. They are more inclined to change people’s lives and society on the whole. Along with Corporate Social Responsibility, where large companies play their social and environmental role, Social Entrepreneurship is an emerging trend.

 

Social entrepreneur innovates products or services that have a long transformational effect on society as a whole. Social entrepreneur makes high promises and if efforts or resources are not put in the right direction, the whole essence of social entrepreneurship is lost.

 


Example of Social Entrepreneur:

Initiatives such as providing free medical help to areas where epidemic disease hit hard, environmentally-friendly electric system, setup of microfinance institutions, etc. Those areas are chosen by entrepreneurs who are overlooked by the local communities or central govt. and put their sincere efforts to uplift the community standards.
