Definition of Trustee

Trustee is a person that manages the assets and their distribution on behalf of another person, an organization or a beneficiary. A Trustee can be appointed for many purposes like charity, bankruptcy, and retirement plans. Trusty has the responsibility to act in the best interest of the beneficiary.

For example, the trustee appointed by a charity is responsible to allocate the charities or the benefit of the nominated schools and teaching institutions. If the trustee embezzles the transactions, this would be a violation of the fiduciary duty to manage the assets effectively.
