Definition of Value Chain

Value chain analysis is a process by which an organization analyzes its processes to identify its primary and supportive activities performed to complete the transforming process of converting inputs into outputs.

Each activity has its input, transformation, and output. Each activity consumes the company’s resources like money, labor, machinery, equipment, administration, land, etc.

Through value chain analysis, each activity is monitored to determine the costs and their effect on the profitability of the company.
